analog tape deck to cd...

what is the simplest way to simply copy a mixed cassette tape to a cd burner on my computer? im not interested in mixing in a software program or any other complicated crap....

im using a tascam 424, and i just want to somehow convert my final mixdown tape to a cd so the 99% of the world who dont have cassette decks can listen to my hit record Im making...
 
as far as i know you will have to use a computer program. I use Audacity- it's a simple multi-track program and wave editor and it's free. just plug in from the tape deck's RCA to your computer and record each track onto audacity. Save them as wavs, then burn em.
 
And make sure you use the line input on the computer, not the "mic"... :)
 
424 mix to CD

For exactly this purpose, I found that it was worth my while to have gotten a consumer dual-well CD burner from a place like J&R in New York. They're a little over $200 new, and you don't have to worry about hassling with a computer. Sony and Philips seem to be the most popular brands. I've used both brands, and The A/D converters are not as bad as you might think. I've produced one CD this way, and it does capture the warmth of the analog source. My latest CD, however, was done with the hhb "Burn It" which is pricier but produces extremely nice results by digital standards.
