Ok sounds good. I've applied.

Any ideas on how to market this channel?

Bump.

Hey guys...just bumpin' the thread to keep it alive. The more people we have sharing tunes on the station at last.fm, the better off we will all be.

If you applied, and haven't gotten activated, you should be now. I saw a new user in there today, and activated the account. I believe its setup so all of us can activate new members.

Thanks for sharing.

BV.

Greg, thanks for joining. Next steps...

  1. Upload your tunage
  2. Connect your artist to the group
  3. Listen to the channel

How do I do any of that?

I click on Homerecording radio and all I hear is a bunch of top-40 pop shit. None of those bands are members here. :laughings:

Last.fm is an Internet radio station similar to other stations. The best part is that it is very Indie friendly. You can upload your stuff for free, and get it in front of an audience.

The downside of it, is that to get in rotation you need people to listen. To get people to listen, you need to be in rotation. You see the problem?

So I was on this forum, and saw that many people use, many different places to upload and share mixes, so I got to thinking...suppose we all used last.fm, and we all joined the Group, and we all listened to the Group radio? That'd help us all.

Last.fm uses your listening preferences to customize the station, so the more you listen, the more you influence the content. Right now, we have a small group, and not many listening so the list is not very diverse.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...but I just see that HR membrs are uploading music they like to listen too ...their "playlists"...or stuff that the've listened to on that website....
...and not so much uploading their original music....????

Where's everyone's original music?

Last.fm is hardly a piece of shit site, but I guess life is subjective.

You can listen to tunes in different ways...

1. Go to http://www.last.fm/group/HomeRecording.com, and click the link for HomeRecording.com Group's Radio, and it will play music that is liked by anyone in the group.

2. http://www.last.fm/group/HomeRecording.com/members, and check out music for individual members by clicking their name.

For uploading, check out the FAQ, http://www.last.fm/help/faq, and scroll down to "How can I get my music on last.fm?"

You do not need to download anything. The scrobbler is a secondary product.

I didn't see anyone from here that uploaded their own stuff. I couldn't see how to do it myself. Account deleted.

If I want to listen to AC/DC, I'll just pop in a CD. I don't need last.fm for that.
