I did a forum search for amplitube and didn't feel like searching through 11 pages of threads to see if this question has been answered already, so I apologize if the subject has been brought up before...

Let me say first of all that I am on a strict budget. My computer is not an optimum machine for recording purposes. Decent soundcard (Audigy 2), but I'm sure it's not up to the task of direct recording, nor would the rest of my system be able to handle it well enough. My question is could I feasibly record a completely dry/naked guitar track to a recording unit (I have a Fostex MR-16), then import that dry signal to software such as sonar or cubase while running a plugin like Amplitube for desired results? I'm still fairly new to the recording process and would appreciate any help that can be given.

I'm new here, so please take my advice with a grain of salt :)
As long as your computer can handle the editing process, this should be possible. I'm not entirely familiar with the Fostex, but I used to do the same thing with the Yamaha AW16G. If your unit has a CD burner or USB port, you can probably export your tracks as WAV files, but you may have already known that.
Anyway, to answer your question - once you have your track loaded in your sequencer, you can tweak the sound with Amplitube (or other plug-ins) as if you had recorded it straight onto the computer. Hope this helps!

Much appreciated...I'll try downloading a demo today. I didn't want to waste my time or money to find out something wouldn't work.

I really need some help. I have recently downloaded amplitube onto a new comptuter, and when I go to authorize it, I find it doesn't load up in to my host sequencer (protools)
I have been succsessfull at installing this in the past, so can't understand why when I create a new track and try to insert it, it doesn't appear!
Please help!

How familiar are you with loading plugins into ProTools? Make sure Pro Tools is scanning the folder your DPM file for Amplitube is in. Pro Tools does not load VST's, it loads it's own plugin extension.

If you see amplitube on a list in Pro Tools, then that is not your problem. Let me know if you can see it in pro tools at all or if it is just not there.

I've been having the same dilemma. Thanks, all of your responses helped me too!
