So ..

I installed Amplitube ..
import a previously recorded wav file into a sonar2xl project
R-mouse button and choose effect -> amplitube

choose a preset and when I click Ok I get the notification

unable to patch amplitube

Directshow error 0x8004022A
The filter does not support the current audio format. It may require a different number of channels or a different sample rate

it is likely that this effect is incompatible with sonar, would you like to remove amplitube fromall menus in the future ?

so I tried again with a mono wav file , but still the same error

anyone a idea ?

How's the sample rate ? You probably record in 48 / 96 kHz :) I don't have the amplitube, but alot of plugins will only work in 44kHz and below :)

nope just used cooledit to resave as 33khz sample and the problem still occurs ...

Excuse me, but 33kHz is uncommon :) Have you tried 44kHz ?

But if afterall is done, you still get the message, there must be something wrong with the plugins or the audio configuration (soundcard driver ?). You can reinstall it again, or at least try to read the manual (help files) included. FYI, some older plugins (specially the ones which were not released anymore) do act strange in SONAR, but I never have any problem with newer plugins :) (made on 2001 and newer)

The problem still occurs no matter what kind of sample rate I have

could it be a sonar 2 problem ?

anyone ...
comon there's got to be some amplitube fans and sonar users out here .....

Is it a mono/stereo issue? (Have you tried both?)

Have you tried it as a realtime-effect?

Is it the DX or VST version? If the latter, which wrapper do you use?

Smart questions .. cant answer them right now ..

but they kinda brought me on the right track ...

As I recall I clucked on Dxi as well as VSTi to install the amplitube app ...(there also was a third option but dont recall how it was named..)

as for the wrapper I think its cakewalk vsti wrapper 4.3
or cakewalk vsti adapter 4.3 ...

but I'll have to look into that in an hour when I get home

Amplitube as a VST effect, sums a stereo imput into mono before it processes it. Probably the same thing for DXI. Don't know if this will make any difference to you, but maybe it'll help you get your problem sorted out. (?)

Good luck.

went to a friends house yesterday and the thing worked like a charm under his cubase version (DONT ask me which one )

it just seems that sonar 2.1 can't handle it correctly ...

But Cubase sucks in every other way... ;)

Anyway, I would uninstall and reinstall Amplitube. Make sure you only install the DirectX-version!

will do

it has a real steep learning curve idd....

thnx for the input

So far I tried pretty much evrything to get amplitube to work

installed and uninstalled in al the flavours you can have
with and without RTAS and vst support
but NEVER I can use it propperly

in fact since I upgraded from sonar xl 2.1 to 2.2 I cant even see the effect in the efect list anymore ..

So I installed it in cubase SX and guess what it didnt work there either
but i could use the Dx version along with all the other cakewalk effects ...

go figure

i think its definately time for a format c:
and a full reinstall of XP

You might want to pop over to www.cakewalk.com and find the beautiful Plugin Manager. :)

And you just found a copy of Cubase SX at your desk?!

I might have another solution

a collegue and me ended up about talking about xvid movies and direct x , nimo codec etc.. etc..

and I recalled disabling the ffdshow filter with the command :regsvr32 /u ffdshow.ax

to enable xvid playback

maybe that fucked up direct x

one more thing to try before the horrible format c:
:)
