Amplifier Simulators

I have heard that exist some kind of amplifier simulator for electric guitar recording. So you record clean guitar and then the computer distort and amplify the sound by using such this software...

I don't know anything else about this, could anyone please explain me if it's true and what are the name of this program.

Could I use it with any recording software??
Could use it for Bass recordings as well??

If your software works with VST plug ins, you have a vast range to choose from. Try www.vstcentral.com for starters. Otherwise google on vst + amp simulator, or something similar. Some are free, some not.

I'm sure you'll find bass amp simulators as well.

Ok, then. I can use Cubase, but, is there any easier-to-use software with that vst technology, which could give me similar results??

... i like doing things the old fashioned way, micing a guitar amp, but i know that's not always possible for people. i'm pretty picky about tone, and i actually think this sounds pretty good:

it ain't the real thing (nothing is, but the real thing), but i think it sounds better than a pod or any of the other plugins i've heard (but i haven't heard them all, i confess).

try revalver. a guit. sim. plugin. works fairly well for me using cakewalk software.
 
Izotop make one called Trash that literally can do ANYTHING to your guitar tone. I haven't used it myself, but what I've heard from it is very interesting. I'm not sure if it's cheaper than Amplitube, but personally I think Amplitube sounds very "solid state" and "direct" on the distortion tones.
 
Go with Amplitube. It's the least offensive-sounding. :) (Always, always off-axis.)

Revalver sucks!!! It's very grainy, and it's got a horrible UI.

I tried the Trash demo, it's a cool plug, but not really much of an amp sim.

i agree with mallcore...

if you're looking for something that sorta sounds like the real deal (with an emphasis on "sorta"), i think amplitube is ok. tones are so subjective, that i think you just need to find a way to demo a few and find something you think sounds good, even if it doesn't sound exactly like a mic'ed up tube amp (cuz it probably won't).

line six guitar port

amplitube is fair but not as good as the port!! the port is the shiz and for 169.00 its not a bad deal the effects are limitless and it even simulates mike placement for its grand array of amps( oh yes grand array!).The tones are totally realistic unlike amplitube or simlite or revalver. its usb and acts as a "soundcard" but has no floor noise,I use it to record bass, guitar and vocals! not only that you can use it as a learning tool too as guitarport online has lessons you can download. if you can "find" amplitube for free sure use it I got it, but if your gonna purchase software for recording I gotta tell you the line6 guitar port cant be beat to date.
 
what about the feel of the port?

I'm a dedicated blues player I'm used to A tube amp with emmence speaker and a mesabogie tube preamp vtwin . does some know for a fact if i'l be able to achieve that kind of sound with this toy , A like to mice the amp from behind of axis with standard dynamic . :rolleyes:

This is a pretty old thread, mike, but I would say if you've found a combination that works for you, stick with it. All of the modelers are just trying to imitate the real thing. If you already have the real thing, you don't need something that "almost" sounds like the real thing.
 
easy program with vst

kristal is free and is very easy and uses vst plugins. just google kristal
 
NI's Guitar Rig is light years ahead of any other plug in amp simulator. - I don't know how many times I can say that. It's perfect for project studios.
