Lol. Thanks. I PROMISE those are real drums. Do they sound that bad? I'm still not very comfortable with my drum recordings. I'll be getting new drum mics for christmas, so maybe they will help. :o
The drums KICK. They sound fat enough to be samples.

Afontan - Thank you very much. :)

Track Rat - Okay, thanks for the clarification. Im very self-conscious about my drums. They're not very good, and my mics arent very good, so I put a lot of effort into making sure I do everything the best I can when it comes to recording them. Thanks for the compliments.

Nice recording man ;)

Some nitpicking:
*I'd try to make the kick a bit less muddy and maybe more deep.
-300hz +80hz and maybe a tiny tiny tiny tiny high boost on them?
*Tambourine a bit less loud
*Maybe lower the guitars a bit in the verse so they really pump through in the chorus.
*The cymbals sound a tiny bit ''harch'' here, I think you can smooth them out a bit.
*The whole mix has some
*Fucking Nice Toms , I would pan them a bit wider bit I'm a big 'bigdrum'sound kind of guy ;)

I'm just being as critical as I can be, because the song is really good and has a nice groove to it.
Keep up the good work !!

Yeah, that's all I meant. It's like they're really isolated and super clean, so I assumed they were triggered or drumagogged or something. Really nice job.

Cool, thanks. Nice suggestions. I'll keep playing with it. :)

Nope, theyre real. I don't even know how to use triggers or drumagog. :p

Thanks. :)

Sweeeeeeeeeeet.

The only think I don't care for is the sound on the snare. Mostly in the intro. Maybe back off on the FX a very small amount. (It still sounds great)

Awesome job on the vocals.

Thanks a lot timboZ. I appreciate the feedback. I'll be posting an updated version hopefully tomorrow. :)

Bulls hit - Thank you. As far as I can tell, I think I played that part correctly. Listening to the original, that part has some piano in it too. I recorded some piano as well, but I can't play piano very well and it didnt sound good with the distorted guitars so I cut it out. I did the whole song by ear though, so I may have some stuff wrong. Thanks for listening. :)

Yeah the piano makes it sound ambiguous. You're playing GGG AAD and I've always heard it as GGG AAC. Pretty hard to tell though

Yeah, the piano part is (I think) an 'F-E-D'. I did that and it sounded okay, but didn't really fit my version. I did it with some hammer-on/pull-offs and tapping too, and it still didn't sound right, so I just left that part out alltogether. I did play the basic part 'G-A-D' like you said. A 'C' definitely doesn't work there. Theres not a 'C' anywhere in this song.

Yeah I think you're probably right.

There is a C though in the little triple after that progression - GGG AAD CC#D

Yeah, theres one there. I meant in the main rhythm of the song. That little lick (the way I played it anyway) is B-C-D.

Sounds really good to me....immediately recognized it. :D Nice job on the vocals. The snare seems a bit loud....maybe it's the tone, but it stands out a bit.

Overall, cool version. Sounds close enough to the original, yet some differences. I like that.

No nits.....great cover, great performance, got Petty to the bone....good job man!!!!

Great live sound to it. Soaring rhythm guitar and clean clear drums. Vocal’s well done but sounds just a little stark to me in comparison to the ambient feel of the guitars. Maybe a very short delay would sound good on the vocal… where you don’t notice it but it adds a subtle depth.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'm gonna redo the vocals - or at least parts of them. Now that I've gotten away from it for a few days, I hear a few things I can do better. I'll play with adding a little more effects to them. Thanks again. :)
