I have lately been finding that ambient mic'ing gets me much closer to the type of sounds I want than I get with close-mic'ing.
That being said, I was wondering if dynamic mics are useful in this context. I ask for 2 reasons:
1) whenever I see anyone talking about ambient mic'ing, it seems they only talk about condensers
2) I don't have a locker full of different condensers, so I thought perhaps that rather than using the same condenser on everything that doing some tracks with a dynamic mic might keep the sound from becoming too one-dimensional.
Any thoughts?
Thanks alot
Tim
