Five years ago I went to the music store intent on buying a new acoustic guitar in the under $500.00 range and walked out with a $2000.00 dollar Taylor. I still have this guitar and probobly always will, there that good. So $1200 is not a lot of money for an acoustic. Think of the musical inpiration this will give you. The better you sound the better you play.

i just found this thread when i was searching for some info on acoustic guitars people talk about on here. ive been eyeing a taylor 410 for about half a year now until this week, i played one that was so horrible i almost dont want to buy a guitar anymore. it was bad, it felt like crusty cheese with sand on it and some rust too boot. im going to go around and play some more, and now that ive haerd of these larivee and seagull guitars i found some dealers aroundhere, i will play some of those.

Seagull

Hey Kristian

I own a Seagull S6+ with the cedar top. It has the L.R. Baggs active pickup in it. It is the one with the 3 band eq and sweepable mid along with a presence control. I have owned it for about 3 years now and still love it.

It has a real rich tone to it. It sounds great plugged in as well as unplugged. It is easy to play. It has a little bit wider neck (good for me with my cludgy fingers).

There are only a couple of thing to consider, first you will probably need to have the neck set. They sometimes are set a little to low which creates string buzz. The second is that since the cedar top does not have a high gloss finish, the wood is very soft. I have a few dings that probably wouldn't have happened to a high gloss guitar. There are also wear marks under the strings where I strum with a pick.

Over all though, this is an awesome guitar.

Peace
Joe

ohh, well i havent had ttime to go out and try some yet, as its only 10 or so hours since i last posted. but im looking for a narrow neck like the 410 has. i mean, i probably will find some more nice 410s, that one was just whacked up. of course, that means i could find a ton of other good guitars, im just out there lookin.

Check these beatie boys out

Hey Kristian,

Have you heard of wechter guitars. These things are realy cool. I had the opportunity to pick one of these up and play it last Sunday. You can have them custom made to your liking. It had a pretty cool sound and was realy well made. It also looked realy cool. Don't let the prices scare you. I did a search on the net and found them in the 900 to 1500 range.
