Am I looking at this correctly?

I have recorded in the past but just on multitrack cassette systems. I am looking at computer based recording and have doing some reading. I play bass, guitar, and a bit of drums and keyboards. I will not be using the system for live performance. Most likely i will only work on my own so no band recordings. I have acoustic and electric basses, guitars and misc stringed things. I have a reasonable technicla understanding of computers. I want a PC based system as I use them for work, have support available, and have a certain comfort level. I will spend the time to learn whatever program I select but I have little patience for messing around with interface issues, hardware protocols, etc.

Reason 6 seems like a good solution for me. It is stable. It has a recording desk for my real world instruments. I has a bunch of soft synths, drums, etc. My background is as a live performer. I like the way they implement the rack where you can just plug things in and twist knobs. I think that will shorten my learning curve as it seems familiar and comfortable.

I will be getting a laptop that will be dedicated to the task. Leaning towards an I3 or I5 based toshiba as this brand has been bullet proof for me over the past few years. I will also add a keyboard controller, either an axiom or a novation 49 key.

Am I missing something? Is there something similar that I should take a look at? Thanks for your advice.

The biggest thing to consider is the audio interface. If your going USB you probably don't have to worry that much on the hardware. If your going firewire you really need to pay attention to the computer hardware your using. That's where the problems come in.

Since I"m starting from scratch I will be going all USB. Thanks for the advice though...there is a lot to consider.
