This little acoustic ditty was tracked with my guitar tuned to an open E major (the lead was tracked in standard tuning, and played in C# minor):

I think the space on the lead works for two reasons: the distance in the space fits the wistfulness and yearning of the melody against the relaxed strumming, plus it's really well played.
