Very spacey stuff, I like it.

Your drummer is dragging in parts :D

Speaking of the drums, the snare sounds like it is panned to the left a bit, I'd prefer it centered, as with the kick. I like hard panned cymbals though. Curse with drum machines is you don't get the bleed from each overhead to add some cohesiveness. But I still like the hard panning.

Acoustic is a little boomy, minor EQ adjustment should fix that up.

Very nice song!

lol... so that is a guitar part... sheesh... The "keys" they're talking aboot is that delayed elec. git in the left speaker.. it sorta sounds like a keyboard... kinda... :p

Anyway... I listened to the new mix.. and yes.. that helps a lot... it's doesn't stick oat so much anymore. Now it's just a nice "additive" in the mix, instead of an "in-your-face" track... good deal... I would still add a little more harmonica... I'm hearin' that way back in the mix and just wishin' it was a little more "present" when it gets towards the end. Once again, though,.. just personal preference. The tune is great as is.

P.S. I've saved this one in my HomeRec playlist... good stuff.

Excellent, excellent song! This is very good. There is a lot of compression on the acoustic but I like it. This tune has got something about it my friend. You might want to market it.

WATYF, thanks for the help on that delay part......i look into that harmonica part now......thanks

Track Rat, very kind words.......i really appreciate it......thanks for listening

I love the lazy feel. The only thing I can see as an "improvement", really, would be different kick/snare sounds, or real drums. And that's nitpicking as it is. Great song and it's executed well.

Hey Powder.....
Sounds much better w/ that delay down. .....Isnt that what i said? .........delay ....... :D

.....sam, between you and me...... those were keys damnit!!:D

damn!

I knew it was a guitar, I just misspelled it! :D :p

Yeah the remix sounds a lot better.. nice mix fix..

I like the way this lopes along...

Nice rainy day song.. Solid, angst-filled vocals are a tad low in the mix, but are very effective. Drum part is more than a little bit boring, but I'm sure you knew that. :) The minimalist approach serves the song very well, actually. But, I'm a drummer, so I always look for articulation there, even from a programmed part. The ride in the bridge helps tremendously.

I don't mind the hyper-compression on the guitar at all.

This is kind of a Pink Floyd-meets-Alan-Parsons-on-methadone thing. I'm digging it.

hang on, I wanna listen again.

Ahhhhh. Yeah.

Yeah.

OK, whats going on around here? This is homerecording.com.

I come here to feel better about my music not worse.
Someone better put up something I can criticize.

Oh yeah, the song was perfect. Go mess it up or something.

pglewis, thanks for listening.....and for keeping the thread alive......a few more people got to hear it cause of you..........anyhow, i need to get my drummer to add his part so i can take out the samples........getting him over here to record can be pulling teeth sometimes........

Guernica and Sabbath, i'm glad the remix sounds better......trust me, i'd put keys in if i had some or knew how to play them......thanks for listening again........

Llarion, thanks for listening.....yeah, my drummer can be a bitch sometimes, thus the samples here.....he's always like..."dude, i don't want to move my set", so i have to beg and plead till i get him on this one.......

muze, thanks for listening, glad you liked it........as for the acoustic, i just had one large diaphragm condensor mic about 2 feet away.......the key here i think was adding tons of compression (this is by far the most i've ever compressed an acoustic, but i have been very happy about the result)........no eq or reverb

jake-owa, thanks for listening......i'll take what you said as a much needed compliment.......i tell you what, my recordings have improved 10 fold in the past few months with the help of everyone at hr.com......i've got a ways to go, but with this one, i've finally gotten to a comfortable stage where it isn't 'as' hit and miss as it used to be...........thanks

Very cool, Powderfinger! Luo Reed meets Tim Buckley and they get wasted together!:D

As for the other problem:
"anyhow, i need to get my drummer to add his part so i can take out the samples........getting him over here to record can be pulling teeth sometimes........ "

The surefire way to entice a drummer........

Tell him you have food and free beer, as much as he can guzzle. Works every time!

Keep up the good work!

Buffalo Bob, thanks for listening man, i like the idea of free booz.....i guess it's going to have to come to that...........

....anyhow, Lou Reed meets Tim Buckley and they get wasted together? i like the comparison.......this recording has yielded the most diverse group of comparisons that i could have ever imagined......i've now heard what you said, another vote for Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, a U2 comparison, Coldplay, the Wallflowers, a Jocob Dylan meets Soul Asylum, Bread, new Beck, and Pink Floyd meets Alan Parsons.........man, that's a lot of comparisons for one post! hopefully i should take this as a good thing rather than a bad one...........thanks

Nice stuff, powderman. Certainly an extremely laid back feel. It does have a very familiar sound to it, but I won't add to the list of comparisons - seems like you have enough already. :)

Nice song. Easy to take. Giutar sounds great to me.

Snare sounds a little flat though. I'd like to hear it "crack" more. But it sounds like you're working on that already.

dachay2tnr, thanks for listening........yeah man, i've been tweaking the drums around a bit, but unfortunately haven't come up with anything better.........i think the only answer is real drums, which hopefully i will get on soon...........thanks
