Hey guys and ladies if there are any in here,

So this is my first thread. I'm new to this site and new to the whole home recording scene. I have prior training in an analog studio (16trk 1"Tascam) but I am a complete noob to the PC based home studio world. So I did some research online and through the pros I know and I think I may have come to a crossroad. I'm looking to go inexpensive on my first go at this. I have the Uber PC already to go. I looked at Pro Tools first based on where I was directed but found these 2 alternatives. Both come with Sonar LE. And both are the same price. My question is can anyone recommend either of these based on experience. Also if any one wants to steer me in another direction I'm open to ideas. I'm like the A&H for the fact that its a mixer that I can use for other purposes and I would think that it would sound better then the Presonus. But I'm interested to hear your comments. Thanks Troy

hey troy,

i see you want to get into the home recording stuff. you have some good options there. i myself would stick to something like presonus and sonar. that is what i have and i'm quite please. the allenheath mixer is i would guess is just a mixer board. and the presonus is recording direct to you computer via firewire. you could always adjust your volume and stuff with the presonus, but with the mixer board your only limited to two channels of recording. two channels coming out of the mixer. unless, if i'm wrong, the mixer board has firewire built in. if you got the presonus firepod you could add more channels to it to get more. daisy chain. maybe later you can get a control surface to work with your daw for mixing your recordings. i hope this helps you with your decisions.
