Allen & Heath Saber

Hi, does anyone know anything about these desks, I have been offered first refusal on my cousins as he hasn't used it for years. I haven't had chance to hear it yet as he needs to find out if it still works first. It is the 32/16/2 model I was wondering if any of you guys know what the pre's on this are like and how much it would be likely to retail secondhand if it works (I've seen it and it looks in good condition).

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated

let me put it this way. sabers are very good consoles.
its not a million dollar console. but very good.
if its in good condition, and a good price...i would seriously consider getting it.
remember. you can always do upgrades to it later by a console specialist.
but i doubt youll need to.
one such person is jim wlliams. just google for him. he does a lot of interesting electronics upgrade work. peace.

Thanks alot, I'm hoping since it is my cousin and godfather I can get it for a steal.. especially as he knows it's going for a good cause ;) I'm hoping around the £200/£300 mark and I know it's worth much more than that.

I'll bear that name in mind if I do need to do any mods to it :)

That would be an awesome buy - get it. Allen and Heath is serious stuff, and that's Behringer money!! If you're happy it's working you just scored a winner!

boulty. dont even think about it. unless its smashed to smithereens.
dont tarry, dont walk, dont even think about it. GRAB IT !!
thats a steal !!!!! OF THE YEAR !!!! you are very lucky.
what a christmas present.

:D I thought it must be good, it's pretty much the only decent thing in my cousins studio.. all his mics are C1000s

He does have an early tascam 16 track Reel-to-reel too but I'd probably be pushing my luck asking for that too, plus I only have a small bedroom studio right now and that might be a bit too much.

Right, I'll see what I can do then, probably wont know for a week or two... keep your fingers crossed for me :)

I can't see how I'd have space in my bedroom for a mixer this size ... I'm having trouble sharing the bed with my M12!!

basically I rent a 3 bedroom house with my gf, we have one room as a bedroom then I have all my studio stuff in another room and I record in the 3rd

unfortunatley I can't do what I want with it all as we are renting

Sound on Sound are always recommending putting a slab of Auralex or equivalent on a bit of plywood, covering in fabric and mounting on the wall. You can do this in the same way as putting up a picture I guess. I'm renting too and looking at this to try tighten my room up a bit.

Auralex...

From what I've been reading on these boards I would stay away from Auralex and pick up some Owens Corning 703 fiberglass (2 inches thick or so) instead. This is especially the case if you will be mounting to a plywood board anyway. The 703 is better essentially because it absorbs lower frequencies better than the Auralex foam, but check out http://www.ethanwiner.com/articles.html for more information, cheers

Sorry I only said Auralex because people seem to know what it is more than they do 'acoustic treatment foam'. Me know nothing.

confetti where I go to college has a shit load of rockwool, I was debating getting some off them if they'll give me a good price. Is this gonna be worthwhile?
