All Time Best Song Ever...

The tune's classicly raw, I like it. And not to be a total Neotronian in regards to the mix, but it seems like something right in the middle of the two posted would be perfect - however, in general, I like the new a bit more. I can feel it more, which I like.

Prefer the old version. The increase in the bass kind of kills the nice clarity.

I like the original - cleaner & clearer if that makes sense.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm gonna have to stop beating this dead horse. It's clear I'm no mastering engineer--and that's what I was trying to be here. In terms of tonality, I was working with EQ and Multiband Compression to try to edit this one. I was only working with the final mix. I do much when I'm working with the all the tracks of the original mix.

I agree with your assessments, and if I ever find the time, I'll re-assemble the source files and re-mix from scratch. Until then, I'm feeling like I should write something new! Thanks again!

I think I like the old version too, for reasons already stated.

Cool track. Two musical suggestions (if you find the original tracks):

1. Ditch the winds at 2:30 etc. Up until then, it sounds like an old ELO overture or Funeral for a Friend epic stuff. When the winds come in, the illusion is gone.

2. Take an hour and un-midi things, it would make a huge difference. In Sonar, one can look at notation view, click on a note, and easily change velocity and time. Move some note beginnings around, change some velocities, it will be worth it.

Nice track, has a good "epic" quality.
