I'm adding some stuff to my little computer recording studio and I'm on a tight budget, Would a pair of Alesis ProLinear 720 2-Way Active Studio Monitors suit my monitoring needs?

And, having ever only used regular speakers before what kind of connection can I expect at the end of the monitors?

I may be a dissenter here but I like the Monitor Ones better than the ProLinears. I liked the Monitor Ones over the Mackies too which a lot of people seemed to like.

Alesis does several products really well, but none of them are monitors. I'd avoid them if I were you.

It's up to you if they sound good, or are easy to record with, or not. In the end your the one who lives with them. Let your ears and wallet guide you, not how they look, or if they're popular in any particular region of the world.

Bluebear, what do you not like in the Alesis ? Just curious.

I use the Prolinear 720 at a certain studio and they sound are very good sounding and detailed to my ears, and many. DO you mean that mixes do not translate very good with them ?

To me they are the better ones in the market (at least of the ones that are available under the 1000$ price range), and I tried two KRK models, Event 20/20, Behringer. I also like them much better than the Alesis Monitor One.

i am curious about these too... anyone else w/ experience?
