Alesis or Edirol¿?

I was planning to buy an Alesis multimix 16 fireware ,,,,,,,, or an Edirol FA-101 ..... those are about the same price,, but a friend of mine is sayin' that he had an Alesis and it wasn't well built,,,, that the faders scratches and stuff,,, are the new models like that too?? ,,,,,,, I'm thinking about those 2 because the alesis have more channels (it's seems,,, ) but the Edirol is really small and made in Japan,,, tho,,, as I live in Japan I know how good are the japanese products,,,,,,,,,

in this case the products are about the same price,,,, which one do you recomendme? (As I have no idea about mixing properly yet)

I've always, for some reasons, associated Alesis to be better than Edirol. There's nothing wrong with Edirol, i know a few people who use products and they're good for the money, but Alesis stands out to me as slightly better. End of the day, you go for what you need and to what benefits you more. See if you can give them both a try and see which one you prefer.
