Can these monitors be trusted for mixing in a small control room?

No.

Sorry man.

I have a pair.

They are very misleading compared to a good set of monitors.

The near fields i recommend and have are Event ASP 8's

I know there a bit expensive but to me these are the shit for their price and are a minimum recommendation for trying to achieve good results.

Nothing is better than being able to trust your decisions in the mixing room.

I also have a pair of dyn audio's but that's another story.

Every mix i did on the Alesis where so Bass shy and had heaps of 1-5 khz presence it wasn't funny, but it sounded good at the time.

This is going back a while.

When you hear music through a good set of monitors it is joy.

You will fall over if you hear your own mixes done on the Alesis through a quality set of speakers.
I know i did.

Nothing is impossible though and that doesnt mean you cant make it work, but its definitely a case of pushing shit up hill.

Really, you can do better than those Alesis.
They have very weird responses at both ends of the spectrum (bass and treble).
The Events mentionned before are indeed a good choice.

The dude i love your sig, man its awesome i just seen it.

If i could give you some more red rep points i would and light you up like a fucking negative christmas tree.

Im behind a proxy and i cant give points out.

Thats so funny your sig

If you guys think those sigs give you leeway to take advantage of me in any way, you guys are warped! I will neither be stalked nor deflected from truth by a couple of sigs. ;)

Hasan, the main question is not whether the monitors arre trustworthy, but whether your "small control room" is trustworthy. If you are mixing in walk-in closet, without proper room treatment you could have some real response problems regardless of the brand of monitor you choose.

Why would you give me bad rep only for an humoristic sig ?
What I said in the thread made sense.
This board is sick...some people are so angry and furious...lol

I thought you liked the red points.

For the record i havnt given you any red at all. Cause i cant.

For the record, I can't remember the last time I gave out bad rep because I do so only in extreme abuse cases. It's been longer than either of you two have been on this board, I think.

And for the record, even though Dewd an I have had a few major disagreements on this board, I not only never gave him negative rep, but once actually gave him a positive rep (on a conversation I wasn't involved in where Dewd was correct about something and getting beaten up by others anyway.)

And besides, with a sub-100 rep power, I don't have the pull to throw you guys way into the red anyway. It's all these people with 3 billion unearned rep points that are now starting to skew everybody else: my rep power has tripled in the last two weeks over what I have gotten in the past 11 months, not because I am suddenly The God Of Audio or anything like that, but because when you get all these folks with a few hundred rep power points, all it takes is one positive post and your rep power goes up by anywhere from 1 to 5 points. A year ago it would have taken even the best poster several weeks to get what they get in one post now.

It's all just stupid.

So the more rep points you have does that mean you can give more or that when you actually give its worth more.

Glen your a champ.

I think you should be a mod here.

The rep power you see at the top of each post is for all intents and purposes the amount of rep points one can give or take away on a single post. With certain detailed exceptions at the beginning of the scale, it takes 100 rep points to equal an increase of 1 in rep power.

The fact that 80% or so of the regulars on this board have "artificially" increased their rep power ten- to twenty- or more-fold just in the past couple of months means that it's ten to twenty times easier and faster for one to build rep power and points on this board now than it was just a few months ago. In other words, practically ever day that goes by increases the meaninglessness of the rep power system on this board.

I wouldn't want to mod an open board like this one, but thanks anyway :).
