An unexpected success this ... bought it as an easy 'do most things ok' box for a project studio I'm setting up in a local youth centre, and been extremely pleased with the results. Easy to use, decent enough preamps, two headphone outputs with their own volume controls, ADAT for expansion, phono preamps, phantom power grouped in four pairs rather than global, idiot-proof direct monitoring software ............... all for not much money.

I particularly love the input meters on each channel, and the whole compact feel of the thing.

Very cool little desktop box which deserves not to be snobbily overlooked because of its brand or design. It will suit many people better than a 19" rack unit (lot least myself, if I could bear to part with my Yamaha boxes).

I got mine about 6 weeks ago or so, absolutely love it so far.

It's proving to be invaluable to me.

Quite alot of bang for the buck IMO.

Glad someone looked at this - I guess when I started using this site, one of the things I loved the most was the database of reviews and comments ... just wanted to start a thread that wasn't a question.

Yeah I think Alesis have got a really good product here, there's enough connectivity and tactile controls for a lot of home users to abandon their complicated aims to use a hardware mixer with their setup.

Never thought I'd buy a product like this but since it wasn't my money I thought it was worth a shot - and it paid off! :)

thanks guys. especially noisedude. i've been around here for a couple years but took a break for a couple months. thanks for offering your experiences so i didn't have to ask a question.

my interface (Firepod) was stolen over the summer and so i've been looking to replace it. The Alesis caught my eye because of its expanded capabilities over the firepod including the addition of lightpipe at the same price. I need to get back into musicmaking and so i think i might pick one of these up.

thanks

Just finished a really good song on this interface today but when I mixed down I over-compressed and destroyed the treble, so I'm not going to post it out of embarrassment. :o
