I aquired a 1622 mixer and need a schematic.
Alesis was of no use in providing a schematic. They say that they don't have the schematic. Imagine that. Poor customer service.
I have searched the web to no avail.
I have emailed several sites that sell schematics and still nothing.
Does anyone know where I can get a schematic? Does anyone have one available.
My research into this mixer, shows that it suffers from quality and manufacturing issues.
I'd still like to try and fix this 1622 up and see if I can improve the function , quality and reliability of the mixer.
Any help with the schematic and other advice about this mixer is appreciated.

Thanks

Have you taken it apart yet to see what's inside??

If not, then you are in for a surprise.....

I think you are wasting your time looking for a schematic. Most of it is "monolithic" parts inside, not discrete components.

You are waaaaaaaaaay better off just finding a second and third and fourth 1622 to buy cheap and cannibalize for parts. I sent my 1622 in twice for "renovation" and both times it came back with exactly the same problems, and that was when the Alesis factory was still doing the refurbs. I bought one to canniblaize for parts, and the other one had the same problems mine had. Replacing the parts made no difference.

I ended up just kicking myself for ever dropping one dime on an Alesis mixer. This mixer was the start of a very distasteful "relationship" I've had with Alesis, and I will never again buy another piece of anything with that name on it. Jump over to Mackie, it's budget crud too, but trust me it's a Cadillac compared to the 1622. For a lot less money than I spent on two 1622's, I got a used Mackie SR244VLZ and it does more and does it a lot better. And the guy who used to manage the Mackie service dept is still in business in Tukwila Washington.

Good Luck! - SC

Thanks for the response.
Actually, I have taken it apart.
I plan on taking pics of the innards and posting them on the web.
At least if people get stuck with this beast there should be some info on it's wierd construction and it's Monolithic PCB construction.
I got two 1622's cheap ( now I know why ) and I wanted a schematic, as I try to get for all my gear.

The Monolithic construction looks like it could and has evolved into many problems.
The resistive and switch elements are on the PCB itself. There are no pots or switches, per se.
The pot wipers fit inside the front panel and then the PCB is mounted so the wipers sit on the resistive elements. Likewise for the sliders. This whole mess is held in place with a plastic lattice, which holds the PCBs down.
Yes it is a complete design nightmare but I figured I would at least try and document the innards and any refurbs that would be done to this mixer. There is not a whole lot of electronics (IC's , Xistors, etc) in there anyway

When I put the plastic lattice back on the PCBs, several of the pot knobs did not seat correctly.
So now the knobs are stuck in position and I will have to take it apart again.
Actually, the resistive elements were in good shape.
What I had planned to do was clean and lubricate all elements and go from there.
I agree, that people should avoid these mixers and go with a Mackie or other manufacturers.
Also Alesis Tech Support is absolutely terrible.
Most companies provide schematics at no to little cost, while Alesis claims that they don't even have schematics for the 1622.
Alesis has been of no help at all.
I have searched the web and emailed several sites that sell schematics but I have not found a schematic
Still I would like a schematic for this beast.

Dont quote me on this but....... I think Alesis was sold and bought (I dont remember who bought them) and the loss of documentation is a frequent recurring problem with a compnay that changes ownership. I would bet they are telling the truth, they really dont have the schem's. The buyers may have agreed that they didn't need docs for any gear that was discontinued and no longer eligible for warrranty service. They probably figured all the auth service people already have what they need.

And I believe the auth service centers are the only ones who get schematics (they may have to buy them, I dont know), but I do know that most companies only let go of schematics after their database tells them there are no longer any individual pieces of that gear eligible for warranty anywhere on earth. I bet if you contact every authorized service center there is on the planet, you will find at least one who is willing to bargain with you some how for a 1622 schematic. They would probably love to get rid of the darn thing just so they can tell everyone they wont work on the 1622 any more.
