Ha, it's like 2 children fighting. Just ignore the freakin' posts if you don't like em. You're not obliged to read them......

Mike

Amen :)

Dear Gidge,

If your post doesn't further the *topic* of the thread or add humor, support and/or goodwill towards all who participate here, then PLEASE refrain from posting! You're a good person -- warm, capable, intelligent, funny, informative and generous -- but Alan Hyatt has become a very annoying obsession with you. The only cure for obsession is to FORGET ABOUT IT! Just ignore Alan's posts -- all of them, don't even read them -- and PLEASE trust the rest of us to form our own impressions without your help when it comes to Alan or any other person on this board.

You're wonderful when you stick to the topic or indulge in a little topic-related humor. Please stay on topic and don't comment on individuals.

With kind regards,

Mark H.

The same can be said to you though, he's not going to stop if you keep egging him on.

And on another note, I don't take Allan's reviews of mics very seriously, as I've never heard him say a positive thing about another mic thats not his (unless its in response to someone saying he never says nice things about other mics). Which is not to say that he's is making it up, though.

But that aside, I still don't think it helps anyone to piss him off until he leaves. Its nice to have as many people who actually know stuff on this board...

Alan,I for one appreciate your presence here,as I do that of all who have knowledge they are willing to take of their time to share.

Been a while since I jumped in on a C1 thread... you might remember me Alan, we buried the hatchet months ago... and I'm a little surprised to see that very little has changed in the microphone forum...

The way I see it... most people who post to these forum are all a little biased toward the mics and equipment that they personally own. Its only logical, they did buy it. There tends to be a fierce loyalty towards the equipment that we shelled out the bucks for. I've got an AT 4740 SV, I love it and will jump in to recommend it if anyone requests info on mics in that price range... but the simple fact of the matter is that I've actually listened to very few large condenser mics in that price range. I have a CAD 400s, a couple of Octava MC 012s, SM-57s, another Cad95 condenser, but this by no means makes me an expert on Mics, I can comment only on what I've used.

In fact it can be very hard to get any type of unbiased opinion on any anything out here in cyber space... You've got to take everything with a grain of salt, slowly get a feel for the people posting, view everything with a critical eye, and make decisions based on the information available... all the information. Take what you want from it, but leave the rest alone...

It seems to me that Alan has made himself very available in this forum. Frequent visitors recognize that fact, and are quite capable of coming to their own informed decisions, by reading the posts and considering the source.

Amen?

Thanks to all for the support, now can we all get back to what makes this group cool. Lets move on and keep firing the questions.

Gidge, I know your out there, lets call a truce. Marshalls are great, so lets you and I just be cyber friends :) :)

Alan,

youve always been cool in my book...even when i said i would never recommend the c1 i did it anyhow.....i think this did get way out of hand the past day or so.....but im back on the Lortab so i should be ok......

I have to say I got the same impression Gigde had on this one. I have been tempted myself to bait one of my posts to see if I could "catch" a C1 commercial.

There have been several threads where Im waiting for the inevitable "punchline" and since im easily amused, this amusing element easily amuses me.

It's like obvious product placement in the movies, when ET starts eating Reeses Pieces or something.

I have found this dynamic of the message board to be one of the most humorous and entertaining elements of the board to date.

Alan and Gidge-glad to see you guys sorted this out!

You guys (and anyone else) are welcome to post in the thread
I started in the Cave for us to learn what kind(s) of music we
to record and why we do it. I just thought maybe a get acquainted type of thread would ease some tension among us.
It's interesting how a similar post at musicplayer will get a big
response, however, up to now I haven't seen that level of
interest here at this bbs in what each of us do and how we
enjoy it. I bet the quality of the postings here will only go up
in quality as a result too!
