I picked up a couple of these for $75 each. About $25 off retail (depending on where you buy of course).
I'm wondering what people here think of them - if you've used em. I A/B'd it on the mid-tom against an old CAD NDM 10 drum mic that I haven't used in about 5 years. Seemed like the AKG had a better/more clear upper-mid to high resonance than the CAD, but it wasn't like the CAD sounded like a wood board. Both had good attack and produced a nice thump as opposed to an ugly thud.
So, my question is - is the AKG D40 worth it, even at $75, or am I better off just buying some more old CAD NDM 10's for $50 on eBay?
Thanks for your thoughts.
