Akg C430

Has anyone tried these mics? I saw them at Musician's Friend and I was considering getting a couple to use as drum overheads. But I can't find much info. I couldn't find ANY info on them at AKG's website.

I was originally considering a pair of C1000s, but I've read a lot on this forum that they're "metallic" and harsh sounding. I was hoping the C430 would be a good alternative.

Can anyone recommend or NOT recommend these?

MXL 603S is very good for the price (only 80 bucks). Next would be the Neumann KM184. Also consider the Shure SM81. Those are my SD condenser picks.

As much as I'd love to get a pair of either the SM81 or KM184, they're both way out of my price range.

No, $300 for a pair of SD condenser mics isn't a lot of money, but I'm a very poor man already ignoring my current state of total squalor as a means of justifying this expense.

But being the broke bastard that I am, I'll probably look into the Marshall mics you talked about.
