AKG C3000B has a reputation as a rather harsh sounding condensor mic (overly hyped high end).

I have a C3000 which I sometimes use on acoustic guitar (if I'm looking to emphasize high end) or on hand percussion (if I'm looking for more high end attack) - but I don't find it good for much more than that.

If I recall the C3000B was considered an improvement to the C3000 - but still does not get rave reviews.

Perhaps if you posted in the mic area (and certainly do some reading in the mic area) you could get more feedbakc and useful info.

Get yourself a SP B1 instead, you'll save half of the money and you'll get a more versatile and better sounding microphone.

There are more mics that cost less than the C3000 and sound better.

i had one and sold it, it sucks ! harsh sounding and very strange....its ok on the guitar i think and percussion i guess but loud percussion sounds like someone is slaping you

i've got one of the originals around here somewhere.... and while it is kinda bright i dont think it's as bad as all that... you gotta learn to position it just like any other mic...
