Liked the C1000s on only two things:
- Recording dirty, overdriven guitar amps (really, try it - surprisingly complex and useful tones).
- Sound reinforcement of a live vocal through a bar-sized P.A. I don't mean recording vocals. I mean I've had good results using this mic as an alternative to an SM58 when singing through a P.A. Lends an almost hi-fi sheen that's really terrific, plus the hypercardioid pattern adapter keeps feedback down, which is rare for a live-use condenser.
IMO, this mic is really good in these two uses. Everything else - drum OHs, acoustic instruments, studio vocals - I easily found better options for. Sounded kind of grainy and shrill with everything else.
My .02.
