Hey Axis
Just a question about your handle. It would imply that your a nazi as this was the name that the axis powers adopted during the second world war. Are you or have you ever been a nazi? Now if you reply "no" I won't believe or disbelieve you since this would just be your opinion but it would be interesting to hear your reply. What about it. Are you a nazi?

Hey Weston, I'm glad you cleared up that "Mic Shootout" article. It's been a while since I read it and I could've sworn it said something about what the Sound Room does. My bad. But that's a perfect example of why people shouldn't blindly trust a person's opinion or so-called "facts". Granted, not everyone who offers opinions do such crappy research as I do, but you get the point.

By the way, I wasn't making any disparaging comments about trusting you (or anyone else for that matter), I was making them about everyone in general. It seems that whenever there's a thread like this, everyone starts whipping out their resumes to show everyone how big their dick is. The thing is, just because someone claims a resume, we're still on a sort of "honor" system. Either I believe that a guy has recorded six Doobie Brother's albums, or I think the guy is a total liar. In a lot of the cases around here I've heard the music that is coming out of the studios and so that helps me determine how much I trust that person's opinion. In the long run, it still really doesn't matter to me what a guy on the internet says...I'll listen to it myself. I use this BBS as a place for ideas. If I'm in the market for a large diaphram condenser, I'll look at RTT & Oktavas, because now I'm aware of them.

By the way...glad the album is coming along. I hope to hear some cuts when you get them up.

Thank You kindly for replying and presenting an answer to my question(s), The Axis. I think I understand or see your point of view now; well, as much as I am going to understand and see anyhow. And I MOST DEFINTELY respects that.

*I*, personally, don't take information of THIS nature from "legal representives" to whom the matter GREATLY concerns and whom I haven't delt with on a business OR personal level, ANY more valid or legit than MOST information coming from "third-parties"; ESPECIALLY when those "third parties" have earned my respect in the past; or from other "legal representives" to whom the matter GREATLY concerns and whom I've delt with on a business or personal level, AND whom those "third-parties" who've earned my respect, have delt with as well.

For me, I don't care if Taylor Johnson and The Sound Room have been accused of such. From MY experiences AND from "third-party" experiences to whom have earned my respect, AND from "third-party" experiences to whom I haven't idea who they, BUT who overwhelming have had the same GREAT AND POSITIVE experiences I have with Taylor Johnson and The Sound Room, the accusations don't get me to question one bit; as if they were never brought-on. I haven't ANY reason to.

Also, yes, I have been on the defensive from the beginning of this thread. Overly? I'll admit that. But when someone comes in saying what they were, I have a right to be. The defensive part of my response (which I know was most) was directed at that ONE individual; and the conflict resolved on the first page. I did NOT plan or WANT it to become one of the fuels for fire (or pissing for that matter) or paths that got this thread off track, but others took it for what it was NOT; my previous response clarifies what it SHOULD have been taken as; as well as tdukex's response on it.

I Thank You ALL who've read what I've said here in this thread to clarify my initial responses; EVEN if you DON'T really give a shit. Or at all!

I'm glad to have introduced people to Oktava and RTT and The Sound Room, and 797 Audio, and others; now if I could just get you guys turned-on to DaviSound... Hehe. I work for them too... HA! BELIEVE me you, I truely HOPE you try for yourself before buying. I've ALWAYS encouraged this. And to tie it to what this thread is about, buy one ot two Oktavas from The Sound Room and compare them everything you can and REALLY take some time!
You may find you like a different mic(s) over them. Then simply return the Oktava mics from The Sound Room.
Taylor has ALWAYS encouraged this as well. It's sort of "forceful" in his return policy. Something about if the mics are returned BEFORE 20 days from purchase, a resocking fee will be add... He told me this is because anything less than 20 days is NOT an ample amount of time to REALLY try and compare. Now does THAT sound like a sales man or an engineer talking?

The "FACT" is that I recommend the Oktava MC-012s from The Sound Room SO much is that's about the MAX MOST people want to pay here. Though as time goes by and as mics get cheaper and cheaper, the lower the MAX people are willing to pay. I've said it before. You want to talk about Neumann or Josephson Engineering or Schoeps or MBHO or Hebden or Manley or Sony or AEA or ANY other company? Lets! There HAS been a few times people have the money to spend "what it takes". And I HAVE given them a shit-load of possibilities and then narrowed then down for them as to not be TOO overwhelming. You tell me the budget. I reaveal ALL the possiblities I know (when I have the time) and tell my recommedation. If the MC-012s from The Sound Room DIDN'T have 3 different caps, I sure wouldn't be recommending them NEARLY as much over mics such as the Shure SM81 or SO many more in that price range. But they DO, and THAT makes then SO universal which we ALL know is such a PLUS; ESPECIALLY when your on quite a limited budget and can afford only a few mics; or maybe your ONLY mics other than a 57 or two; which you ALL already have, right?

OK, I think I'm rambling now. Sorry.

Who but a lazy ass college student like me with way too much free time would bother to read this thread? a.) if the mics from the Sound Room sound better, buy them. b.)if they're stolen, and this is common knowlegde, I believe I, as the legal representitve for Oktava, would do something about it. And if they don't have enough proof to do so, then they shouldn't throw around unfounded allegations. The Axis, I actually agree with you, but you are quite an ass about getting your point across.
