A little history lesson: In "American culture" it is often said that dogs can sense in people bad character. Most Presidents of the United States of America have had a dog, it's kind of a tradition. During the 2012 Presidential competition there was a dual narrative duel among the front runner candidates, Barrack Obama vs Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney was heavily criticized in the media for traveling for some hours with his dog in an enclosed crate above the windscreen of his estate car. Partisan operatives along with the media were quick to release photos of the apparent loving relationship between Barrack Obama, the Obama family, and their dog, Bo. A photo of Obama along with his dog Bo inside a car captioned, "This is how loving owners transport their dogs." However, to provide clarity and further illuminate the seeming juxtaposition with regard to the canine kerfuffle, it came to light that during Obama's early years being raised in a Muslim culture, he dined on dog. Yes, Obama had actually written about eating dog in his book, "Dreams of my father: The story of a community organizing rabble rouser and race hustler".....or some such title. "Unfair" came sneers from the gallery, that was a long time ago when Obama was a wee lad, "You're attacking a child!". As is often the case in politics, the cat fight drifting off into the ether, perhaps more relevant issues came to the forefront. Religion---->Obama's Islam known for a penchant for cutting off people's heads(did I also mention eating dogs?), and Romney's Mormonism known for avoiding contact at all costs with women's icky parts outside the umbrella of marital bliss. That and the recognition that Obama is a girly man who in secret is probably Gay, or has been at some point in the past. The past being after conversion from Islam(wink wink), because everybody knows there are no gays in Islam. Fast forward, there was one more recent President who did not have a dog. The media and political opponents such as the mentioned above Hillary Clinton made a big deal out of it, similar to her statement, "Don't vote for anyone you wouldn't trust with your dog." It was all symbolic of the man being untrustworthy, they posited. As a vampire to a crucifix, Superman to kryptonite, it meant something, indicative of sinister connotations.
In America, dogs are a very, very big deal!
I don't give a damn the past of those animals, once you take a dog into your care their future is on you, you are responsible. Those dogs in Afghanistan could have been evacuated and saved rather than left in cages or roaming free in the Kabul airport to suffer a horrible fate at the hands of savage barbarians. From what I understand an organization for the humane treatment of animals had chartered a plane to get those dogs out. Gov't bureaucracy and the Center for Disease Control thwarted the effort. If rabies was a concern, over a year and a half into the covid pandemic could have informed a decision to move forward....quarantine.
Oh well, shamefully abandoning American citizens, American allies, journalists, billions in military equipment and stacks of cash.....why should dogs be any different. It's all indicative of America being a mere shadow of its former self. America First and Make America Great Again is a dream unfulfilled once "the adults are back in charge".
