Advice For My Setup

This is what i have
Desktop PC
Soundcard = M-Audio Audiophile 2496
Mixer = Phonic MM1002 Mixer
Headphones = MDR-7506 (don't have yet)
Microphone = MXL 990 (don't have yet)
Monitors = M-Audio Studio Pro 3

This is how i have it hooked up:
I have the input of the audiophile 2496 hooked up to the Main L/R of the Phonic MM1002 and the output of the audiophile 2496 hooked up to the 2T RTN on the mixer. Then i have the speakers hooked up to the control room. Should i leave my setup like that or should i do it some other type of why. I was thinking when i get the mic that when i record i will just turn down the volume on the monitors, but will i be able to hear the music through the headphones??? please help me out quickly

i forgot to mention that i also have the rec input of the mixer in the microphone slot of the computer

Hey Nate

The way you have it set up should be fine. The ability to turn down the speakers using the control room outs will help prevent feedback when using an open mic and this shouldn't affect the headphone outs.
(in fact it looks like there's a switch to alternate between LR out and phones??)

However, rather than use the 2track return inputs from the audiophile, maybe plug them into one of your stereo inputs. I am uncertain if hitting the monitor 2 track button will kill the signal from other inputs. Maybe give it a go and find out.

What is this going to accomplish?

If you have an Audiophile, you should just disable your onboard soundcard (in the BIOS). Pretend the onboard soundcard doesn't exist

All your recording and playback should be through the audiophile.
