Hi guys,
I have used adobe audition 1.5 for over a year on this computer and have never had any issues with it until now. What happens now is.... When I click the record button to start recording a message comes up that says "to continue where you left off, please restart audition". I have tried everything that I know. I have uninstalled and installed and it does the same thing. I even downloaded a trial version and it did the same thing. I have windows vista. Please let me know anything that could help me figure this out. I appreciate it. I am going insane over here. haha. thanks guys! :)

Hey,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, it didnt work. I am still coming up with the same thing. It dont understand it at all. Its like as soon as I press the record button the track starts moving and then stops almost immediately and says the whole "to continue where you left off, please restart audition". :(

Just a shot in the dark, but have you added any hardware or software lately?

Hello,
I actually have installed limewire and then uninstalled it cause I heard it is full of viruses. I did a full scan with Mcafee and then I did a scan with Trend Micro Housecall and they both came up clean. I did the scans after the adobe audition started with this issue. Thanks much for the help. I appreciate your time. :)

After uninstalling, re-install Audition in a different directory than the one it wants to default to. Name it Audition fix or something like that. That way there is no chance that the corrupting influence will get to the new installation. (I've had to do this after the program got corrupted.) Once you are up and running you can then do a search to find all the old install files and delete them manually.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the help. I unistalled Audition and then reinstalled it and changed the location and file name. This time when it did the same exact thing except for the message was first "a device ID has been used that is out of range for your system" then I pressed ok (which was that only option) and then the original message ('to continue where you left off, please restart audition") came up and then shut down like normal. any other suggestions? Thanks again for your time. I appreciate it.

I'm stumped. The only thing I can recommend is that you do a web search for the same prompt you keep seeing. Maybe someone else out in cyberland had the same problem and found a cure.

Hi guitarguru85, I not sure what exacly is going on with your system, but have you try making sure that the inputs and outputs are going to the sound card and not to the windows mapper nor the inboard sound card? let me know if this helps...

Hello Baby recordz,
I dont wanna sound like an idiot but im not sure how to check that. Can you tell me? Thanks much for the help. :)

Dont worry thats why we're all here for, to help one another...

This is very simple...in Audition go to Options - Device Order (a small window will pop out) is going to say: Playback Devices - Recording Devices - Midi Output Devices and Midi Input Devices....u're going to click; Playback Devices make sure that ur sound card is on top where it says Multitrack Device Preference Order and that it has the [EV] by it side, if not, click the name of the sound card and at the botton where it says, Use In Edit View click that. Then before clicking ok in that window, click properties (a small window will pop out) to make sure your Wave Out has the same name as your sound card, click ok on that window.

Now u're going to do the same steps but with Recording Devices, when u get to the last part instead of saying Wave Out is going to say Wave In, then click ok to everything else, if u have the sound card and follow those steps u'll be good, if the problem persist, u should contact Adobe...let me know if this helps.

Well I have GREAT news. I figured out what my problem was and do I feel like an idiot! I had recently purchased a usb condersor microphone and set that as my default recording device cause Im recording music all the time and then I unplugged the usb cord thinkng the computer mic would pick it up and thats when it was doing the stopping thing. and giving me that error message ("to start off where you left off, please restart adobe"). As soon as I plugged in my mic it worked. Thanks for all the help everyone. I really appreciate it. :)
