i wanna know how come when i save a file it saves my file(say as wav.) then it also saves a pk file also?? i dont want that pk to save when i save my file i want. is there any way to stop this???
the .pk file is basically the graphical representation of its respective .wav file. if you don't save a .pk file, everytime you reopen a .wav file, it's graphical representation will have to be redrawn. saving the .pk file will make .wav files open much quicker in audition/cool edit. but yea, having all those little .pk files all over the place is pretty annoying.
to prevent audition/cool edit from saving a .pk file:

Like they were saying, it saves the graphic of the wave that you're looking at in Audition, so that each time you load your session up, it doesn't have to redraw each wav. Basically saves time with little space loss. If you're finsihed with a project, you could delete them - deleting them will not damage your wavs.
Keep them after the project is finished too. They don't take up much space, and if there comes a time when you want to open the session again, the pk files will open it faster.
is there a way to put them all in the same place though? bc i know my soundforge does this too.....and it is getting a bit out of hand when i have so many programs that do it.....i would like to have them all saved in the same folder.
No, it expects to find them with the wave file. The advantage is that when you delete the wave file (within Windows) it's very simple to delete the .pk file at the same time, rather than having a load of redundant ones sitting in their own folder.
