Those are actually really quite good on acoustic guitar.

Is it just me or does it look just like an MXL V63. I've got one and it's "okay." (I actually subscribed to MixOnline or something and got a "Free Studio Quality Microphone"--it was a rebadged V63, so I've got two.)

Ir probably is a rebadged V63. ADK's Generis line is their low budget mic line. They're somewhere between the cheap, harsh Chinese mics and actual good mics. [Edit: I actually found a post from someone at ADK who described it as a "generic" line of mics not designed internally by ADK, so yes, it almost certainly is the MXL V63.]

I haven't used this particular one, but I've used its tube cousin. It has a unique character. It's definitely not a go-to mic, but if you're looking for a mic that will sound massively different from anything in your collection, that's a good place to start. If this uses the same capsule, it probably has some of the same frequency bumps. Sadly, they don't publish response curves, so it is impossible to even get a wild guess of what the mic might sound like without actually trying it.

I also note that ADK does not list this series on their website, and old pages that do list this series have META refreshes that take you back to a product page that doesn't list this series of mics. I suspect the Generis line was discontinued and that yes, it was a rebadged line that they decided didn't live up to the ADK reputation. Just a gut feeling. You can, however, get to a page on them from a Google search with a bit of work:

Kinda makes you wonder if they weren't chuckling when they named the line: generis = generic. Hmm...

It's a good purchase if you have some use for it, other wise I think 50 bucks can be throw in something else.
