Adding an amp to actives

I am about to purchase some Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 monitors (I know, I know...another Wharfedale thread). I am leaning towards the actives right now, mostly because I want to start using them as soon as possible and I don't have enough to get the passives and a nice amp right now. But I am interested in upgrading to a nicer amp down the road. I know it would void the warranty, but could I bypass the internal amps and use an external one with the 8.2a's? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.

It's not a stupid question per se but it sure isn't about mixing/mastering. Sure you can bypass the amp but what's the point? Get yourself the passives and use your stereo amp till you save up some money.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. The topic list for mixing/mastering forum made me think this would be the best place to post.
I am not worried about the extra money I would be spending on the actives right now. I just figured I would get more accurate mixes using the actives internal amps rather than hooking the passives up to my speaker amp. Is that not true?

The problem is that I can't wait and save up for a nice amp right now. My band needs to get a new demo out, and I know a few local bands that are interested in having me do a demo for them. I figured the actives would be better (with the internal bi-amping) than using an external piece of crap amp from a hi-fi stereo. I am going to buy either the actives or the passives tomorrow, so any more input would be greatly appreciated. Deepwater, you will be hearing from me.

Active monitors are built with the amp that the speakers were designed to work with. Why would you want to mess with that by using a different amp with them? There is no real advantage to using passive speakers over actives. I have both and prefer the actives. I just like knowing that everything is working just the way it was designed to.
