i would like to purchase an interface for recording and most of what i like uses a fire wire connectivity....my pc only has usb ports....could i get this to resolve that issue?

thanks for any advice and suggestions.

i should add that i have a dell demesion 4100 (iknow its old)
i have 512 ram
pentium III processor

Yes that might work but there might be compatibility issues as some Firewire devices are Picky with the chip set that is used in the FW Card...The TI chipset is supposed to be the Most Compatible chipset so you might want to find one with a TI Chipset.....

I bought the same FW card as in the link you posted and I personally haven"t had any problems with it at all but then again I just use my FW Port to transfer DV Video from my Camcorder and not with Audio so I couldn"T tell you if there will be a Problem with this card or not....
