adat trouble

Hi folks

Lately, when recording, my adat will jump out of recording, but continue to play.
Has anyone experienced this?
I switched tapes and it did the same thing.

Loss of sync.... could be bad tapes, dirty tape path, dirty linear head, badly-formatted tapes, bad sync cable, problems with formatted tapes from other machines, or even the idler wheel needs cleaning or replacing.

Have you been doing regular maintenance on it? How has it been since the last "proper cleaning"? (ie, not with those useless dry tapes)

The first step is to get the regular maintenance done -- it may be as simple as that.... after that you have to look at any tape formatting issues -- are you formatting in one machine and using them in another? (ADATs work best with tapes formatted in the machines they're used in)....

After that, you may have to send it in for a checkup.........
