As recording on a program such as Cakewalk or Logic, you don't have to have each thing you want hooked up to the track you want, just click the record arm and then record.I want to know if on an adat it works the same way or do you have to put each thing(keyboard, mic ect)into the track input I want?

Basicly I want to know how an adat works as far as that and editing.thanks

For ANALOG input, you can select whether you want to accommodate 2, 4, or 8 buss configurations. ie, in 2-buss mode, input appearing on tracks 1/2 will also appear on 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 -- in 4-buss, input at 1/2/3/4 will also appear on 5/6/7/8 -- and in 8-buss mode, each track input is distinct.

A very flexible arrangement...

ok... i'll try again... you go to your adat - press and hold "analog" - at the same time, press and hold track 2 record enable. Track indicators for tracks 1/2 will be the only ones lit. In this mode, any signal appearing at track 1 also appears at tracks 3, 5, and 7. Any signal appearing at track 2 also appears at tracks 2, 4, 6, and 8.

If you press and hold "analog" - at the same time, press and hold track 4 record enable, then signals appearing at 1 also appear at 5, at 2 and also at 6, at 3 and also at 7, 4 at 8...

This is also explained in the manual - which, if you don't have, is downloadable for free at the alesis site....
