Can you keep the 'scratch' vocals and play him a mix using those, to compare to the overdubbed mixes and see if he realises the scrath mixes are better. It's hard to say without hearing the produced version, but I like these versions, and I tend to prefer rawer recordings with flaws over perfectly produced stuff.
