Acoustic Guitar and Vocals microphone

I currently have a catalogue microphone and am looking to improve my equipment a stage. Unfortunately - being a 16 year old, I don't have the money to hand to buy something really awesome, but I am sure I can get something to improve my £15 catalogue microphone.

I would like to get something that will record the vocals and acoustic guitar, but I know that miracles don't happen for small amounts of money.

I saw a Shure SM58 for £69.99 - is that a good choice?

Is the better choices for what I want to achieve?
 
I am in the same boat as you, if you are just looking to use one mic for both and are on a budget try the v67 it is only about $100 and the best thing for what you want you'll find in your range.

The V67 is an MXL large diaphragm condenser.

A guy came to my studio with a $20 Superlux condenser mic, it didn't sound bad at all, at least as good as an AKG C1000.

Might be an option for you.
 
Sammy, I've heard your voice and guitar in the mp3 clinic and I think the V67 might be a good choice for an inexpensive mic that'd do well on each. If you look up Supercreep and Incanus' song, "Radio" you can hear it on vocals. Supercreep (Casey) has a voice different than yours, but similar in frequency emphasis possibly. I've used the V67 on nylon and steel str gtr and it's pretty nice.

or you can go with a Studio Projects B1 if you plan on upgrading in a few months/years. It should be ok for vocals, and its supposed to be very good on acoustic guitar.

i was going to get the V67 as well, but the Joe Meek line is coming out with some ADK Hamburg clones in a few months, so i choose the Studio Projects B1 cause ill still be able to use it to mic my amp after i get thos upgraded Meek mics.

plus the B1 is cheaper (the shockmount comes included) and more versatile than the V67 (wich is also 99 bucks, but the mount is something like 25 bucks).
 
I second the nomination for the Studio Projects B1. I am in the same boat as you, needing a mic that would work well for both vox and acoustic guitar. I think that is sound really good on both. Furthermore, the B1 is a tremendous value at $99USD.

The C1 is just out of price range, but it sounds like the B1 is almost as good, and I have found it online for £60.

Will go for that one I think. :D
