This is an acoustic/electrig guitar that I've been having a problem with for some time now. The wood surrounding output jack on the bottom has broken. I had it fixed for about 30$, he reinforced and painted it. Then it broke again and he fixed it again but didn't charge me. Now, it has broken a 3rd time. Does anyone know what I should to make that thing sturdy? Do all acoustic/electrics usually have this problem? Thanks. -Perry

well.........

No, not all acoustic/electrics have this problem, but yours has a BIG problem. If it keeps breaking STOP FIXING IT!! Just get the hole filled and get one of those jacks that takes the place of your endpin. If you don't know what I'm talking about, well, most acoustic electric guitars have a jack that feeds through that little thing on the guitar that you attach your strap to. Get one of those put in... The wood will be much more sturdy there....

re: jack problem

I know I've seen that design but I'm not sure exactly how it's done. Anyway I thought I'd share my fix in case someone else has this problem. I removed the broken wood. I bought a neoprene washer of the correct dimensions from home depot, and tightened the jack onto it. Then I glued the washer to the body of the guitar, surrounding the hole. Since neoprene is flexible it contours perfectly to the body to adhere well. I used a non-permanent, yet powerful urethane adhesive. It looks good, works good and cost 57 cents. If it were to eventually fail the worst thing that would happen would be the glue seperating, but at least no more broken wood! -Perry
