I'm a newbie, getting better and better everyday at home recording. I'm still stuck as far as drums. I do acoustic alt country tunes, i have no need to trance beats or any of that type of sound. What are decent programs that make good drum sounds. I'd love to get the Fxpansion BFD, but price and the fact that i'd need to buy a new computer makes it impossible right now. I checked out fruitloops, and wasn't really into the sounds. My system is kinda old 700 mhg proc. and 256k ram. What sounds real?

Upgrade the ram in your pc, first of all. Get at least 512 in there, or doing any sort of multi-track recording is going to be painful. Second, what software are you using for recording? There are some cheap programs out there that have drum machines built into them. And last, have you looked into cd's with drum loops recorded on them? Some have praised them for their realistic sounds. I haven't tried them, myself, since I use a drum machine, which sounds like it's not an option for you.
