I am a -very- new user of Acid and recently upgraded from 4 to 5. I was never proficient on 4 and pretty much everything that I know is from 5.
Anyway, I am just now able to create songs. I would like to add effects to the mix. There is an effects tab on the bottom left that opens a box on the lower left of the screen and has the Acid FX in it. There don't seem to be very many but the basics are covered and they have presets within them. But I am wondering if I am using them correctly. First of all, some seem to make a big difference and others hardly seem to do anything. For example, the distortion is very powerful and is immediately noticeable, even set low. And the three band EQ is great and very touchy - a little goes a long way. Ditto for the excellent reverbs. But none of the modulators seem to do much - the flangers, phasers, delays, wah - I can crank them all the way up and barely notice any difference from dry.
Also - I can apply the effects in real time to the mix and hear them, but even though I save my projects, Acid does not seem to save the effects. Everything else gets saved but it's always back to dry when I reopen the project. I don't think that I am saving the effects properly to the mix. And I am sure that there is a way to apply effects to individual tracks instead of the whole mix, but I have not figured that out yet either.
Finally, when I had 4 installed, my 3rd party plugins were automatically detected and showed up in the program. I can't seem to find them in 5. I did not use the migration tool since I really didn't have any settings to save and I figured that the plugins would show up again. They are still in the same place on the drive.
Any help would be appreciated. I am having a blast making music with Acid, with the very limited skills that I have now, and am looking forward to growing and harnessing the full power of the program.
