Seriously, rather than spring for the pair of KSM 32's, I'd do something like:

Get a pair of 4033's and ONE ADK TC (tube mic, glowing review in tapeop a few months back). That'd be about the same price, get you 3 well regarded mics, and ONE really nice vocal mic. Well, same price if you buy used (ebay or whatever).

Then you'd have three decent LDC, one of which is a tube mic. You could also go even further and do the Cad M179's rather than the AT 4033's which frees up a little more cash for yet MORE shite. Plus, you get multi-pattern options there.

Has anyone tried any of the ADK's or T.H.E.'s? Would going for something like a Microtech Gefell M 930 be rediculous for a one mic set up? The C42s look pretty good too.

The M930 is a great allrounder. Think of it as a TLM103 -- just better! I have one and couldn'd be happier. But don't be surprised when you get one: its really small! ;)

no, I got it insanely cheap when I visited Germany while Gefell had their 75th annyversary sale -- so I wanted to trade it against something even better :D

So would seriously looking at the M 930 be a wise decision? Where would be the best place to buy it? I saw it at Mercenary but not a lot of other places. HOW MUCH DOES THIS MIC COST? I've seen it for $1050, but I have seen it for $795. Has anyone tried this on piano? If this costs $800, I could upgrade small condensers possibly, if not, would it still be worth it?
