about to buy stuff (am i right?)

I play guitar and sing at the same time, after reading a lot of stuff here, this is what i'm going to buy:

Zoom 4 track
Dmp preamp
Groove tubes mic (the cheapest one with the tube) for vocals
Studio P B1 (for guitar)
Tc electronics

is this crazy? Should i get a pair of octavas, instead of the b1?
None of the rooms in the house are treated, so i thought maybe small diagrapmhm mics wouldn't be good....

Thanks for the help so i don't waste my money (and will i be able to plug this stuff together, the effects, 4 track )

I'll tell you what, before I treated my room I used to record my guitar amp with an SM57 on the grill and a couple of heavy packing blankets down and it worked wonders!! Never underestimate a small diapragm dynamic such as the SM57, besides it's the only mic that'll double as a hammer

oktava mk012's, c4's,603's sound better imho. On a zoom 4 track, a 57 might be just fine, A CAD will probably serve you better for multiple purposes. I like the Groove tube, but not as my only mic. If I only had one it would probably be my AT 3035 (at that price point)

There's just one problem, since the Dmp only has two inputs, I won't be able to use a pair of matched mics...is one octava better than the b1 for acoustic?

I presume from your answer that you are wanting to redord vocals and guitar simultaneously. I would say yes to getting the Oktava, 603, or C4 because then you will have a large and small diameter codenser rather than two large diameter condensers.

Don't record vocals and guitar at the same time. record your guitar (double mic'd) and then take a second pass to do vocals, lay down a fourth track, then bounce 4 down to one, now you have more tracks to play with

I believe it's a matter of personal taste and for this reason I recommend the Marshall MXL603S over the B1 for acoustic guitar. Other people here may agree or disagree but that will not change my opinion. The Octava MC-012 is a little darker sounding than the MXL603S but can also be nice on acoustic gtr.

ADDED: oh, and if your referring to miking a gtr amp rather than an acoustic gtr... I recommend the Sennheiser MD421.
