This is the layout of my basement where I do all of my recording. I don't totally have the money to be building any walls at the moment but I might consider it at some point.

I didn't measure it out but it's roughly 500 sq feet to give you a picture of the size, I can measure it out if it'd help.

There's no closed rooms, barely any of them are symmetrical so I have no clue where to put my "control room", the ceilings are 8 feet and it's just not very functional at the moment.

Let me know if you have any thoughts

Thanks
-Barrett

it looks like you could do a lot with that space...but not knowing the dimension, it will really be hard to make any suggestions....

also, the pic that you posted....is that the current situation? If not, you need to post a pic of how it is currently. If it is the current situation, measurments would help for sure...

Yeah, The picture above is how I'm currently running things, which is ok but I don't like the function of my control room or "area". There's a good amount of sq footage so I'm looking for some opinions on how to utilize it.

I'll get some measurements for ya ASAP

Thanks for the quick response!

do you have the option of taking out any walls? this is a pretty nice space if that is an option....what is the area in the bottom right corner, and can it be used?

Unfortunately no, literally every wall is infront of a wall of concrete. I could put up some walls, but that's only if theres no other suitable layout.

Thanks again

Judging by the size of the guy in the picture and you saying it's 500 sq ft, this isn't to scale, is it?

Yeah, sorry I forgot to take that guy out. It's not to scale, I took the measurements after I did the sketchup, But with the second picture with the measurements it a pretty accurate depiction on my room (minus the guy).

What I would probably do that doesn't require any wall alteration is make your "storage area" into your control room. Put the desk facing the wall. With that orientation, your "dead room" area will make it so that you don't get too much unwanted coloration on your mixes and the area is shallow enough you could turn around and look into your live area. I know that then you are stuck trying to store stuff somewhere else, but I think that would work better. Other than that, the current layout doesn't look very bad at all.
