Are the pre's in this interface card any good? I'm planning on using it to record vocals now and later use it to record a full band. Would I get better quality using the Q10 or using a mic pre through a Aark 24?

For most applications the q-10's pre's sound pretty sweet.

I too have a Q10 and can't find any fault with the pres!

Hugged my Q10 yesterday - Love it. I'm trying to save up for another one. 8 channels are OK but 16 would be great. Only thing is I wish they would put either hardware or software phase inverters on each channel.

I have a Q10, and want a 2nd one.

Ditto the phase invertor request.

Phases switch, inserts, and phantom power on every input and I would be very happy.

Anyone want to share the specs of their computer that is used to run the q-10?

We have an 1.6 ghz AMD athalon xp chip on an ASUS mother board, 768megs of pc133 ram, two maxtor hardrives 7200 rpm 60GB, 350 watt power supply, and a pioneer dvd/cd burner. With two Aardvark direct pro q-10's and Cubase SX 1.06 and find this to work very good.

Aardvark Q10, Cakewalk PA9, Win 98SE, Abit BE7-II motherboard, PIII 700MHz CPU, 256meg SDRAM, 40G Maxtor 7200 and 80G Western Digital 7200 hard drives, HP CD burner, 350 watt PS. Works fine but definitely will be building a new computer very soon. Staying with Pentium. I'll go to Win XP and Sonar after building.

ABit KG7 board, 9M bios (w/stability tweaks), AMD XP-2000 w/Alpha PAL8045 cooler + Panaflo Ultra fan, Antec PP352X PSU, Matrox G450, 512mb Crucial PC2100, Win XP Pro/SP1. Enlight 7200 horizontal desktop case, sufficient for mounting inside 19" rack.

I keep the base and configured system images saved as GHOST files in the event of damage.

MSI K7N2G-L mobo, AMD Athlon XP 1900+, 768MB RAM, ATI Radion 9000 AGP graphics card, 60GB 7200 RPM IBM system drive, 160GB 7200RPM IBM music drive.

1 Q10 Pro.
eMagic AMT8 MIDI interface, purchased this after experiencing MIDI timing issues while recording audio through Q10, and to provide room for future expansion.

Cubase SX 2.0
UAD-1

Connections...
Channel 1 SM7B with RNC on insert1.
Channel 3+4 Kurzweil K2600 A outs.
Channel 5 Juno 106.
Channle 7+8 Guitar distortion pedals normally hooked up to K2600 B outs.

Outs 1+2 going to monitors, and outs 3+4 going back into K2600 for Live Mode processing.

Thinking of getting a second one to have all 8 outs of K2600 going to it.

69ShadesOfRed, I have a specifc question for you. I am thinking about upgrading from my p3-733 to almost your identical setup. The MSI K7N2 Delta-L and an AMD XP 1800+ to 2400+ depending on price. I think it is only 250Watts (its been a few years since I looked at it). How many watts does your power supply provide? I am trying to keep costs down, so far I have.

MSI K7N2 Delta-L $70
AMD 1800+ -> 2400+ $46-> $69
2 x 256MB DDR $90

Everything else I can reuse if and only if i don't need another power supply. I am pretty sure I would need around 300W minimum. What do you think?

Every review I've read, has said the Echo Mona's pre's are a little better, but if they're almost as good, then they're some nice ass pre's for the price lol.

Ordered my 2nd Q10 Tuesday. Wish I had it right now. I need more mics on the drums.

Looks like my next computer will be 2.6GHz P4 (800 FSB), ABIT IC7 motherboard, 512 MB DDR400 PC3200 DDR RAM. Total about $340. I'll use my same drives, power supply, G450 video card and rackmount case.

hey digital don, where did you get your rackmount computer case?

does anybody has some samples of recordings made with the Q10???... it'll be good to hear some...

Their's a sample from it. It's a ruff mix still but you should get an idea...

What about the Q10 pres compared to the Motu 896 ones? How much better are the Motu's?
