First, this has been posted on before, but never resolved. Someone else had the exact same problem back in 2004, after he'd stored his unit for a while. I would post the link to the thread, but ironically, I can't because this is my first post. So I'll give the full description myself.
I have a new, and successful, installation of the 24/96 on an XP computer. (To state it clearly, this is not a re-installation.) Version 7.13 drivers. The control display for the preamp works perfectly. I'm getting output volume, and I can see that on the display.
However, no input signal is coming through. I've tried two different microphones that I know work. And it's not a recording software issue, because this is the preamp.
On the physical console, the green "power" light does not come on, and when I turn the phantom power on, the red light comes on only faintly. This is exactly what the other guy described as well--and both of us had left the device in storage for a time.
I'm pretty sure, then, that this is some sort of power issue...which is also the conclusion he came to. Either not enough power is coming from the PCI card (he had tried switching PCI slots and unplugging/replugging cords to no avail), or something's wrong in the console itself. I'm guessing the latter.
Is it possible it's worn out from DISuse over time? I didn't know that could happen, as long as good care was taken in storage. Is there any way I can get this problem fixed?
