So I just tried downloading some crappy doss game off some shady site. When I pressed the "setup" icon to install the game, a window flashes as if it were about to install, then disapears. After that, every sound on the comp has reverb on it! (crappy reverb by the way)

has anyone heard of any kind of virus like this? I just ran norton, it didn't pick anything up, the crappy reverb is still there and I don't know what to do.

That's very very strange.. when you say sound, does that include songs and even desktop sounds?

Is there no way of taking your computer back to a previous date before you downloaded the crappy game?

Very strange one indeed.. Sorry i couldn't be of more help,

Sounds like it added an environment to your soundcard or just turned one on that you already had. Try going to your soundcards mixer and turning it off.

If your soundcard is something like a SoundBlaster/Audigy, etc. it probably enabled reverb in its settings for the game. Since it crashed it probably didn't have a chance to turn it back off. Check your sound card settings like NY said.

Worst case scenario is, you have a (good?) reverb plugin to use on all of your songs. ;)

thanks guys I just recovered the hardrive to an earlier date.

yeah the reverb sucked, no way I was keeping it for anything, any free vst was better than this.
