A Song... of sorts.

Performances and recordings are solid, but you knew that. Could use some space, I think... a lot of it ends up being a big fight for airtime in the mid- to- upper midrange frequencies, especially with the percussion. Sounds a little more right when I turn on the "dynamic bass" function on my crap-O system. I think maybe you were going for a jumbled kind of sound so you might not want to lose it entirely, but a little spread on the eq ranges would make this more pleasing and less compressed sounding to my ear, anyway. I'm no pro, but that's what I'm hearing. It's not a deal- breaker, but if there's improvement to be made that's where it lies in my opinion.

Mostly though, damn if that wasn't what I needed a good dose of right about now. Nice, thanks. :)

I like the football schtick. You ought to do an album- length series on the theme.

Thanks, this is the info I need to learn this stuff. I'm going to try playing with the eq to air it out. Thanks!

Heh. I'm learning too, so hold out for better advice than mine. ;)

A good reference for this tune might be "Wars of Armageddon," Funkadelic, Maggot Brain. Same swirly kind of feel, same heavy attack on the upper mids, but it makes good use of the stereo field and keeps just enough going on in the basement and attic to provide some good counterpoint. Most of the bass seems to come from the percussion. Then again, though, that's an old old old piece and betrays my biases a little.

I really dig this kind of stuff. Turn it on and let it ride........ :)

Very interesting. Bass tone is great, as usual. Playing is..... :D , you know. F'N great again. A very percussive number. Has a different feel than what I normally hear from you. Somewhat jazzy, but some interesting elements all around it. Distorted guitar is very cool. Has a spacey sound to it. Very Avante-Guarde, or however you say that. Tune has a purpose, but not a straight line.....
