A small scar

I got myself a nice new Spanish guitar recently.

It's been about fourteen years since I re-stringed one and I messed up a bit before getting it right :(

I should have practiced on my old rubbish classical guitar, but I ended up making a small scar on my nice new guitar. Basically I didn't tie the end of the top E sting correctly and it pulled through really fast, snapping back against the soundboard.

The camera on my phone won't focus well up close, but you can just see the mark here:

It looks like a string sticking out - but it's actually a small dent in the finish.

Is there anything I should do about it? I can live with it, and it'll remind me always to practice stuff I'm not sure about on a junk guitar, but I'm worried that the ding will age badly or something.

Cheers :)

BTW - I know *exactly* how to tie the strings at the bridge on a classical now!

From what I can see, I wouldn't worry about it. Looks like a nice guitar.

so true. i was playing a gig last night, gave my trombone to someone to hold while i set up the PA for our singer (its a big band, the only thing that gets miced is the voice.) takes about five minutes, turn around to go and retrieve my instrument from this guy, and just as i set eyes on him, the slide goes flying off and crashes onto the floor. i've had it a year and there honestly was not a scratch except a tiny crack caused in the production of it, and cost over £2k (that's even more in dollars :p) luckily, it was alright. but my heart was in my mouth for a second while we checked it over to make sure it was ok.

the first one is going to Hurt...

sorry for the ramble :o

and your guitar looks nice :) i hope you have many a-happy year with it.

Agreed. While it sucks to have happened, it will make the next one that much easier......Okay, not really but hopefully it is the last. When I bought my first 'real' guitar (a japanese strat) 21 years ago( ), the first week I had it, I bent over to pick it up out of it's case and "BLAM"!!!...my zippo fell out of my shirt pocket and made a moon sized crater in the upper horn. I was devastated...but it was the last such disaster for my beloved strat. Sorry for your loss...hope it's the last!

Thanks for the reassurance fellas.
It's not often I get hold of such a beautifully made instrument and I felt like a right arse!
