A quick balancing question

I'm not a very technical person and am finding this all very confusing. Here's my scenario:

AKG Perception 120 - balanced XLR cable - ART Phanton II - balanced XLR cable - Boss BR-600 multitracker.

Balanced or not?
Apologies for being painfully noobish.
Thanks, Will

According to Boss, its mic inputs are balanced TRS, so with the XLR-->TRS cable, balanced.

Unless your preamp is a significant distance from your BOSS device it shouldn't matter a hell of a lot whether it's balanced or not.

Can you hear the difference?

The Boss unit is the preamp, and balancing can matter in any situation, especially when you have an external phantom supply that may or may not be noisy. Noise on a phantom supply that is connected to an unbalanced input is injected straight into the audio, whereas into a balanced input it will be canceled by the preamp's common mode rejection.
