Let's play a game. Using one or more of the words from the list below, describe what is closest to each of your preamps.

Warm
Punchy
Thick
Clear
Detailed
Crunchy
Forward
Open

For instance, I have a JoeMeek VC3 that I would call Detailed and a bit Crunchy, while my Peavey VMP-2 is more Warm and Open.

Clear and warm, with a punchiness that is detailed, thick and open. It has a delicate bouquet when served slightly chilled.

My pre was a little forward and made a detailed proposition to my mic, and got a crunchy slap in the face. It's cheek got very warm, and it felt a little punchy, but in no time it's head was clear again. After my mic thought about it for a few moments, especially the detailed part about how thick something was, it decided to open up and play nice.

Mine kinda' sounds like Willy Nelson.

Hmmm.... mine kinda sounds like Nelson's willy... sort of aged, soft and wrinkly... definately not hard! ;)

My Mackie....metalic sounding, opposite of warm in my definition....
