The baggie prevents the large condensor from getting the small condensors pregnant.... I might end up w/ some bastard dynamics.... :D

Seriously, it has a bag of dessicant in it, and it protects the mic when not in use.... ;)

Fair enough...

I just thought that maybe you had invented the ultimate de-esser/pop filter :)

Velvet

I think you should wap a 96 track console in there too, in case you want to record 16 bands at once.

It's a bit cramped, but it's comfortable... it's just me recording, so I'm just happy to have my own "space"..... (my wife is great, and very supportive of me getting back into music.... I haven't played out since 1991... I used to be an 80's metaler...)

I have some experimental crap posted, but nothing ever gets really "finished" and posted.... I throw stuff up on a "public" portion of a website when needed, but there's a TON of stuff that stays "private"...

Click here if you really want to hear the crap...

I really like the JaimieRedux tune.

I really like the JaimieRedux tune.
Thanks punkin...
The song is from www.raw-tracks.com (the band is called Apparently Nothing), all I did was delete the guitars, and replace them, add a B3 organ (NI B4), some leads, and rearrange and mix. That's a fun 4 chord song to play with... lots of possibilities....

nice room ;)

i think the only thing we have in common is the Hosa TRS cabling lol :D

Hah!! I have a "Big Knob"!!!! :D :D :D

DSC06488.JPG

It's not the size of the knob, it's how you use it.

BTW I am digging the MCU!!!

I've got the MCU as well...a fairly recent addition. It's totally cool...I just wish there was a little better documentation with it. I would have the same comments toward SONAR since they support the interface as well. I've been considering the Big Knob for the built in talk-back feature. How are you using the Big Knob...just for switching your monitors or what? You been happy with it?

I know how you feel about the documentation.... It's not too good for Cubase/Nuendo either...

I like the Big Knob alot... some people complain about having cables on the desk... as you can see, it's not a problem in my setup. Might be for others...

As far as passive being better (like the Presonus Central Station), I don't know... Large format consoles have active (non-passive) monitoring sections, and nobody complains. My "Knob" sounds great....

Nothing else in my signal chain is passive... not my amp, my effects, my computer, my preamps, my I/O Card, my powered monitors... why should I care so much about adding 1 or 2 OpAmps in my monitor control??

Maybe my gear just isn't good enough to make a difference...

I really like the Knob's build quality (better than the MCU), and flexibility. It's a great buy, and a way better buy tha the CS in my opinion. (for my needs)

I don't use the talkback in my studio, but I have 3 different monitoring setups, and it's great!! Check eBay, you can get them for like $225...

Oh, and the documentation is really good... ;)

wow, I hope you don't get claustrophibic. Your set up makes my meager set up look like a cheap cassette deck and a used puter. OK, so much for envy, guess I need more gear.

Yeah, it's a little cramped.... The upside is that everything is close at hand....

Soon, I'll get the rest of the room to myself, and be able to spread out a few feet!! :D

I know this isn't the forum page to ask but what do reckon to those speakers... they're on my short list.

what do reckon to those speakers... they're on my short list
Can you rephrase the questions?? I don't understand what you're asking...

Sorry,

My old monitor speakers blew up and I'm replacing them shortly. The Events are on my list to demo, what do you think of them??

Hey. awesome setup! I have discovered exactly what it is about your set-up that I am so envious of....the one thing that really puts it over the top, the secret of the pros!......

1.) I Really like the Event Monitors... everyone I know who has Events really likes them. Compare for yourself of course (if you have somewhere nearby), but Ithink you'd be happy w/ the Events. They are a good company to deal w/ also, if you need parts.... (I blew out a tweeter.... my fault... open mic.... feedback..... VERY loud.... ouch....) :(

2.) Yes, my mixes have greatly improved w/ the addition of my Lava Lamp. The one in the picture is the coveted WalMart $8.76 model..... :D

3.) The thing on the tripod (which is actually a 6" tripod on my guitar amp rack) is a Radio Shack SPL Meter..... handy for seeing what volume you're REALLY monitoring at!!! (and setting up a home surround sound system... it's original use...)
